主要从事海洋生态学、海草和大型海藻生态学、富营养化对近海海洋生态系统的影响等。

先后主持或参与各级各类科研项目20余项，包括国家自然科学基金面上项目、地区项目、青年项目、科技培训项目以及重点项目子课题等，在Marine Pollution Bulletin、Environmental Pollution等国内外刊物发表学术论文50余篇，主编（参编）专著3部。海南省拔尖人才。
